1. Cream 75 ml (1/3 cup) butter and granulated sugar together. Gradually add flour, ground almonds and crushed cereal, mixing until well combined. Press into bottom and sides of 23 cm (9") pie plate.
2. Cream together cheese, 50 ml (1/4 cup) brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Pour into crust. Cover with sliced apples.
3. Mix together remaining butter and brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and sliced almonds. Spread over apples.
4. Bake at 190°C (375°F) until apples are tender, about 30 minutes. If surface starts to get too dark, cover loosely with foil for last few minutes. Cool on rack. Refrigerate. May be prepared a day ahead.
Preparation Time: 25 minutes + 30 minutes baking + 4 hours cooling and chilling.
