Jewelled Holiday Wreath
Surprise your family and friends with this edible wreath. It makes an attractive, eye-catching centrepiece for a holiday table.

Ingredients

  • 125 ml or 1/2 cup butter
  • 1.25 L or 5 cups miniature or 40 regular (250 g pkg) marshmallows
  • 5 ml or 1 tsp green food colouring
  • 1.5 L or 6 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes* cereal
  • - or - red and green candied cheeries or small jelly beans
  • - or - sliced almonds

Directions

1. In large saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Add marshmallows. Stir until marshmallows melt and mixture in syrupy. Remove from heat.

2. Add cereal, stirring until well coated.

3. Turn mixture out onto greased baking sheet. Using buttered fingers, shape mixture into a large wreath or shape into 12 individual wreaths on 2 greased baking sheets, using about 125 ml (1/2 cup) mixture each.

4. While still warm, press cherries/jellybeans and almonds onto surface as desired to decorate. Cool.

Microwave Directions:

1. In large microwaveable bowl, microwave butter at HIGH 1 minute or until melted. Add marshmallows, tossing to coat. Microwave at HIGH 2 1/2 minutes longer, stirring every minute. Follow step 2 and 3 above.(Microwave cooking times are for 700-watt ovens; increase by 15-30 seconds for lower wattage ovens).

Note:

Wreath may be used as centrepiece or treat the first day, then covered and refrigerated for up to 5 days for eating. Wreath can stand for several weeks at room temperature but will not be edible.
