Oven-Fried Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • 1 L or 44 L Kellogg's Corn Flakes* cereal
  • 250 ml or 11 ml Kellogg's Corn Flake Crumbs*
  • 5 ml or 11 ml Garlic salt
  • 2 ml or 1/21/2 ml Dried oregano
  • 50 ml or 1/41/4 ml All-purpose flour
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 30 ml or 22 ml Water
  • 1 Large onion
  • - or - Vegetable cooking spray

Directions

1. In pie plate or shallow bowl, combine crushed cereal or crumbs, garlic salt and oregano. In second pie plate or bowl, place flour. In small bowl, beat egg whites and water with fork until thoroughly combined.

2. Peel onion and cut into 1 cm (1/2") thick slices. Separate slices into rings. Dip onion rings in flour, then in egg mixture, then cereal mixture. Carefully repeat dipping in egg mixture and cereal mixture to double coat completely. Place on foil-lined shallow baking pan coated with cooking spray. Lightly spray coated onion rings with cooking spray.

3. Bake at 200°C (400°F) about 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
