Rotini with Tomato Beef Sauce
Who can say ‘no’ to pasta night? Definitely no one when your noodles are coated in this thick and meaty sauce.

Ingredients

  • 125 ml or 1/2 cup All-Bran Original* cereal
  • 250 g or 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 onion,
  • 1 clove garlic,
  • 1 can (796 ml/ 28 oz.) plum tomatoes
  • 5 ml or 1 tsp sugar
  • 5 ml or 1 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 5 ml or 1 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1 ml or 1/4 tsp salt
  • n/a Pepper to taste
  • 250 g or 1/2 lb rotini pasta
  • n/a Grated Parmasan cheese (optional)

Directions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook beef with onion and garlic until browned: drain. Add tomatoes, sugar and seasonings; crush tomatoes. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in cereal. Simmer 5 minutes longer or until of desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasonings.

2. Meanwhile, in large pot of boiling water, cook rotini until tender but firm; drain. Serve with sauce; sprinkle with cheese if desired.
