Spicy Beef on a Bun
Inspired by the Sloppy Joe, this recipe packs the mix with sweet peppers and a little heat to really take it to the next level.

Ingredients

  • 500 g or 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 125 ml or 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 125 ml or 1/2 cup chopped sweet green pepper
  • 1 can (398 ml/14 oz) whole or diced tomatoes
  • 375 ml or 1 1/2 cup All-Bran Flakes* cereal
  • 50 ml or 1/4 cup ketchup or chili sauce
  • 15 ml or 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 ml or 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 ml or 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 8 whole wheat hamburger buns

Directions

1. In large non-stick skillet, over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion and green pepper, stirring frequently, until meat is browned and any liquid has evaporated.

2. Stir in tomatoes; chop whole tomatoes into pieces with spoon. Stir in cereal, ketchup, Worcestershire, salt and pepper. Cover and cook over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

3. Serve on hamburger buns.
