Whole Wheat Apple Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 L or 44 L Kellogg's Corn Flakes* cereal
  • 250 ml or 11 ml Kellogg's Corn Flake Crumbs*
  • 125 ml or 1/21/2 ml Whole wheat flour
  • 125 ml or 1/21/2 ml All-purpose flour
  • 125 ml or 1/21/2 ml Firmly packed brown sugar
  • 10 ml or 22 ml Ground cinnamon
  • 2 ml or 1/21/2 ml Ground nutmeg
  • 2 ml or 1/21/2 ml Baking soda
  • 1 ml or 1/41/4 ml Salt
  • 375 ml or 1 1/21 1/2 ml Grated unpeeled apple
  • 125 ml or 1/21/2 ml Raisins
  • 75 ml or 1/31/3 ml Corn syrup
  • 30 ml or 22 ml Vegetable oil
  • 15 ml or 11 ml Icing sugar
  • - Vegetable cooking spray
  • 1 or 1 Egg beaten

Directions

1. In large bowl, combine crushed cereal or crumbs, flours, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda and salt. Add apple, raisins, syrup, egg and oil, stirring until combined. Spread in 2 L (9") square baking pan coated with cooking spray.

2. Bake at 180 ° C (350° F) 30 - 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. Sift icing sugar over surface before cutting into bars.
